Media Registration Guidelines

NOTE: Online media registration will close on Monday, January 11, at 4 pm Eastern Standard Time. Registration after that time must be made on site at the SHOT Show.

The National Shooting Sports Foundation welcomes all professional outdoor media to the SHOT Show, the largest trade show for the shooting, hunting and outdoor industry.

How to Register at the SHOT Show

Online registration for media is closed. Media can still register, however, on site at the SHOT Show. Before filling out the hard-copy registration form, we urge you to review the Media Registration Guidelines below, particularly the Proof of Eligibility section.

To register at the show, print this registration form and bring it with your "proof eligibility" to the show's Press Registration Desk outside of the Press Room (Venetian Bassano Room 2701).

BADGE TYPES (non-transferable)

PRESS--For individuals covering the show for print or Web editions of print publications.

Allows access to the show floor with permission to carry and use still-photo equipment. It is the photographer's responsibility to obtain all necessary permission and releases.

PUBLISHER--For individuals covering the show for print media.

Allows access to the show floor with permission to carry and use still-photo equipment. It is the photographer's responsibility to obtain all necessary permission and releases.

BROADCAST--For videographers, video crews, audio crews and others covering the show for television, Internet video or radio broadcast. Approval is granted at the discretion of the Press Room manager. Allows access to the show floor with permission to carry and use video/film or sound recording equipment. It is the broadcaster's responsibility to obtain all necessary permission and releases. Broadcast badges must be claimed at the SHOT Show Press Room located in the Venetian Bassano Ballroom 2701-2710 and require a signature on an agreement form outlining scope of coverage at the show.

INTERNET--Bloggers reporting on industry-related subjects including products, personnel and events; or producers of industry-related online publications.

Proof of Eligibility

Proof of Eligibility is required to ensure that only professional working media attend the SHOT Show and addresses concerns of SHOT Show exhibitors who wish to maintain a credible [boldface] business environment at the show. All media registering using the Web Site Registration Process (see above) MUST provide Proof of Eligibility. It is requested that Proof of Eligibility documents, such as a press card, be uploaded as digital files, but if you do not have scanned versions you may fax a hard copy instead. Providing a URL link to a Web page showing  your name on a masthead or a bylined article is an easy way to fulfill your Proof of Eligibility.

Press or Publisher

• Copy of current individual membership card issued by a bona fide outdoor writers’ or outdoor communicators’ association, or
• Copy of valid press pass issued by a bona fide news organization, or
• Copy of the most recent issue of a shooting, hunting or outdoor publication that lists your name in an editorial position on the masthead, or
• Copy of a bylined story published during the last 12 months that indicates you are a staff writer, reporter or regular contributor to a hunting, shooting or outdoor publication, or
• Provide an original letter of assignment from an editor or publisher of a recognized hunting, shooting or outdoor publication that states you are on specific assignment to cover the show.

Broadcast

• Copy of current individual membership card issued by a bona fide outdoor writers’ or outdoor communicators’ association, or
• Original letter of intent from a recognized producer of hunting, shooting or outdoor-oriented video, film or sound programming. The letter should list the names of all individuals on specific assignment at the show and should describe the nature of the assignment, or
• Original letter from a 2010 SHOT Show exhibitor with whom you have arranged interviews. The letter, on the exhibitor's official letterhead, must grant permission for you to shoot film/video of that company's exhibit and/or interview its staff. Permission must be obtained from each exhibitor that you wish to cover.

IMPORTANT: Unauthorized filming/taping of exhibits, other than those exhibits for which written permission has been granted, will result in the revocation of all media credentials.

NOTE: Some video crews may be escorted by Press Room staff to and from their interview locations on the show floor.

Internet

• Copy of or link to content that deals with hunting, shooting, firearms or outdoor subject matter and includes writer's or blogger’s name.

Media Registration Review

• Register by December 11 to receive your badge in advance by mail in December.
• Registrations submitted after December 11: Bring e-confirmation and pick up badges in the Press Room.
• Exception: Broadcast badges and International Media.
• Broadcast badges: Pick up from Press Room staff during; bring copy e-confirmation notice.
• International: Bring copy e-confirmation to print your badge in the Press Room, or see Press Room staff.
