SHOT Show Retailer Seminars

With three or four to dozens of different holsters available for every unique handgun produced, holster inventory management can quickly become a drain on your time, take up valuable floor and rack space and stagnate your turn rates. Some stores seem to carry a holster inventory that's double or triple the size of the handgun inventory—with many collecting dust while others seem perpetually out of stock and backordered—while others carry just a few that mate with a smattering of the most popular handguns, which hardly provides an incentive for shoppers looking for the carry option that suits their individual needs.

There is a way to cut through the mass of leather and Kydex and nylon and turn holsters into a profit center with high churn rates, and pro shooter Randi Rogers will help you do discover just that with her Retailer Seminar, “Selling Holsters at Retail.” Rogers is the sales and marketing manager for Comp-Tac Victory Gear, a Houston-based maker of premium holsters and related accessories. She’s also one of the country’s leading professional shooters, having earned more than 50 world and national championships across USPSA, IPSC, IDPA, Steel Challenge, 3-Gun and other action shooting disciplines, so she knows a thing or three about holsters.

During “Selling Holsters at Retail,” Rogers will speak to the natural sales strategy for most handgun sales, where you should always be asking, “And what kind of holster would you like?” She explains that while that may sound easy enough, the actual holster sale can be a difficult task if you don’t know more than the basics of holster materials and carry positions. Rogers will cover those details in depth, including how various carry designs work, the pros and cons of today’s many holster materials and constructions, and how differently men and women carry their firearms and what you need to do to keep both kinds of customers happy and buying.
