SHOT Show Education - Online Job Boards

In an upcoming issue of SHOT Business, editor Slaton White talks about the challenges and frustration many in our industry are facing when it comes to hiring, especially those of younger generations. Not only has the concept of having a career that gets you a gold watch and a pension you can live on after 30 years with a company gone the way of the dinosaur, it’s been replaced by a mindset that emphasizes living life to its fullest far more than it does a 9-5 and a steady paycheck.

The difficulties encountered in finding the right people to employ and keeping them on the payroll roster is compounded by an increasingly difficult hiring process — and that’s just what we’re going to cover in our Retailer Seminar “Successful New Hiring Programs” taking place the Wednesday of SHOT Week, Jan. 23, at 8:30 a.m.

During this 90-minute seminar, you’ll learn what you can ask — and what you may absolutely not ask — and what you should ask during the interview process, what you can provide and how to provide it in a job offer, and ways to protect yourself from a hiring gone wrong. Interview design that gives you a better picture of the person behind the polished résumé, how the use of background and credit checks can save you headaches in the long run, plus on-boarding processes that get new hires started on the right foot will also be covered, as well as insights on designing incentive packages that can attract and keep great employees on your staff.
