Good News from Las Vegas: CES Set for January

Las Vegas’s largest trade show – CES – will return to the city January 6-9, the Consumer Technology Association has announced. CES is held annually just prior to the SHOT Show at venues throughout Las Vegas, including the Sands Expo Center. While the SHOT Show’s plans have been in full swing for 2021, the CES announcement is welcome news for the entire trade show industry and the city of Las Vegas. — Bill Dunn, NSSF

Hotels/Casinos Begin Reopening on Las Vegas Strip

With Las Vegas currently in Phase 2 of its reopening plan, hotels and casinos on the Strip have begun reopening. The Venetian Resort reopened on June 4 with its new “Venetian Clean” safety protocols in place. Travel Weekly reports that MGM Resorts and Caesars Entertainment have also announced plans to restart operations at additional properties on the Strip. Also, Circa — a newly constructed resort and casino in downtown Las Vegas — has moved up its opening to October 28, about two months ahead of schedule. It's the first new resort to open in downtown Las Vegas in nearly four decades, so more great news for Las Vegas. — Chris Dolnack, NSSF

Airlines Adapting with Enhanced Safety Measures

All airlines now have measures in place to safely travel.  Whether it’s removing middle seats for selection on flights, discontinuing snack services, electronic boarding passes and requiring face masks, it’s great to see the aviation industry is constantly reviewing their procedures to keep all passengers and crew safe. It is also extremely helpful that a majority of airlines are now waiving change and cancellation fees, which reassures passengers when booking their travel. Be sure to review the procedures (available on the airlines' websites) to be sure you know what to expect on your next trip. Here are some examples from Travel & Leisure of what airlines are currently doing and how they are constantly evolving, including JetBlue, Delta, United, Southwest, and American Airlines. — Melissa Schilling, NSSF

Mastering Your Marketing Package

The SHOT Marketing Package is one of the best resources in an exhibitor’s arsenal, and you don’t even have to pay extra to get it. Did you know that you can communicate with your target audience months prior to the opening day of the SHOT Show? Using the Matcher Profile in your Exhibitor Dashboard, you can set demographic guidelines for the buyers you want to attract at the show and will be matched with registered and approved attendees who fit within those guidelines. The higher the match score, the stronger the match. You may then initiate up to 500 private communications with your matches and set yourself up for success at SHOT. If 500 isn’t enough, you can upgrade your marketing package to gain more pre-show access to approved buyers. Want more detailed information on the SHOT Marketing Package? Contact our Customer Service Team at 855-355-7468 or by email at exhibitorhelp@shotshow.org. The resource is yours to leverage, so why not use it? — Melanie Mathis, ConvExx
