SHOT Show Insider: Q&A with Ruger, Fall Trade Shows Moving Forward and More

Welcome to the latest SHOT Show Insider, written by the SHOT Show team at NSSF and our show partners to keep you informed about plans for the upcoming show as well as provide you with useful insider tips on how to have a more productive SHOT Show experience. Let us know what topics you’d like to see addressed here in upcoming issues by emailing us at shotshowinsider@nssf.org.

A Conversation with Ruger on SHOT Show and Its Upcoming Move to Caesars Forum

There’s a lot to be excited about with the upcoming SHOT Show, including the expansion to the new Caesars Forum. Sturm, Ruger & Co. was one of the first companies signing on to exhibit in the new facility. Writer Kevin Tate recently spoke with Ruger’s Vice President of Marketing Rob Werkmeister on all things SHOT Show, from his first show back in 2008 to the upcoming move to Caesars Forum. It’s a great read, and you can find it here. — Bill Dunn, NSSF

Fall Trade Shows Moving Forward in Las Vegas

Add two more trade shows to the list of events moving forward with plans this fall in Las Vegas. G2E, North America’s largest casino gaming show, will take place as planned at the Sands Expo from October 5 to 8, Casino.org reports, while Vision Expo West is moving forward with its show September 23-26, WWD reports. This is more great news for Las Vegas and the trade show industry, and we’ll be following these events closely as our planning continues to evolve for the SHOT Show in January. — Chris Dolnack, NSSF

Vegas Getting Even More Exciting for the Future—Allegiant Stadium

A few of us were lucky enough to tour the under-construction Allegiant Stadium last week, home to the Las Vegas Raiders (while not personally a Raiders fan, it still has a nice ring to it).  Just off the Las Vegas Strip, the newest NFL stadium that can hold up to 75,000 people is scheduled to open next month. As someone that lives in Las Vegas, it’s exciting to actually have a venue that can accommodate that many people, and it is clear that they designed it to host more than football—but to also cater to the trade shows and events that come to Vegas throughout the year.  We toured the field level, the concourses, and some amazing clubs that will be ideal for special events and parties. I’m thinking that in the next few years, we are going to be ready for some amazing events where we can ALL attend and celebrate the industry together with the biggest part we have ever thrown. Here are just a few pictures of what it looks like now and what it will be. — Jeff Pressman, ConvExx

Don’t Trust—and Don’t Believe—the Scammers

It’s come to our attention that email scammers are at it again, using the COVID-19 crisis to spread false information about trade shows, including the SHOT Show®, in an effort to steal from our exhibitors. One of these scammers has been sending emails to SHOT Show exhibitors, claiming the show has been postponed and attempting to sell a fake list of attendee contact information (a screenshot of this email can be found here). If you receive this email, or any other scam emails like it, please delete it or bring it to our attention by contacting us. The only sources you should trust are NSSF®, the SHOT Show, and our official show partners.

Despite what these scammers are peddling, plans for the 2021 SHOT Show are in full swing. Our expansion to the new Caesars Forum—right next door to the Sands Expo—is ahead of schedule, our booth sales are progressing better than ever, and the 2021 SHOT Show is shaping up to be our best show ever—FULLY LOADED and FULLY EXPANDED. — Chris Dolnack, NSSF

‘Venetian Clean’

The Venetian Resort, one of the SHOT Show’s headquarter hotels, is leaving no stone unturned in its quest make the hotel and casino one of the cleanest and safest in Las Vegas. Take a look at its “Venetian Clean Commitment,” which includes a video overview, that lays out its response to COVID-19. While the resort’s cleaning practices for hygiene and sanitation exceed its already high standards, it is also meeting or exceeding the requirements of the CDC. — Melissa Schilling, NSSF
