Transition Begins for Sands Expo to Venetian Expo Name Change

Photo courtesy of the Las Vegas Review-Journal.

We’ve known it as the Sands Expo for many years, but as of last week, the Las Vegas home of the SHOT Show has a new name: The Venetian Expo. Last week, the big Sands sign outside the convention center came down, and a new Venetian Expo sign will be installed soon. In addition to The Venetian Expo name change, The Venetian Congress Center, where the SHOT Show’s meeting rooms and ballrooms are located, has been renamed as The Venetian Convention Center. — Jeff Pressman, ConvExx

A New Opportunity for New Exhibitors

Do you know someone interested in exhibiting at 2022 SHOT Show? The main show floor is completely reserved; however, we’ll be adding a new area to the show at Caesars Forum called “SHOT Show eXtra” for companies that have either been on the SHOT Show waitlist or who are trying to find a way to exhibit at the show. It’s a great new opportunity for new exhibitors. SHOT Show eXtra will run the same days and hours as the SHOT Show and will be located adjacent to the New Product Center, one of the most visited areas at the show each year. Learn more and apply for space here. — Tammy McIntyre, NSSF

Nevada Expands Mask Exemption for Vaccinated Convention Attendees

Nevada Gov. Steve Sisolak last week added large conventions to the list of indoor events where masks will not be required if all attendees are vaccinated. Currently, all attendees at large conventions in Las Vegas are required to wear masks. We continue to work closely with our partners in Las Vegas to monitor the changing guidelines in Las Vegas and to learn from other large trade shows holding successful events in the city. — Chris Dolnack, NSSF

Hotel Rooms Going Fast; Book Through Official SHOT Show Hotel Providers

Hotel rooms are going fast for the 2022 SHOT Show. The Mirage, Treasure Island, Bellagio, and Trump hotels are all close to or at sold-out status, so time is of the essence to get rooms booked at your preferred property. As a reminder to companies exhibiting at Caesars Forum, your exhibit space is directly connected to the Linq and Harrah’s hotels through a skybridge, so they are great options for your teams this year. Room blocks are available for booking through the SHOT Show website. The only official SHOT Show housing providers are onPeak and The Venetian/Palazzo. — Melissa Schilling, NSSF

Update Your Show Directory Listing

When was the last time you reviewed your SHOT Show listing online? Have you uploaded your most recent logo? Are your product category listings accurately reflecting your current product lines? Now’s a great time to do it. The deadline to update your listing for the printed Show Directory is October 8. Now is also the time to make sure you have requested any additional listings for brands you want to include in the printed show directory. Contact Chris Briare at if you have any questions regarding additional listings. — Mindi Cherry, ConvExx

Next Webinar Oct. 13: Quick Tips for Better Attendee Interactions

Exhibitors often say that their favorite part of participating in the SHOT Show is the opportunity they have to connect with the many different professionals who attend. Sure, networking can be fun; but, that’s not all. The way in which you interact with each attendee will have a major impact on your exhibiting results. In this Q&A session, you’ll learn the strategies required to support your attendee-facing efforts before, during, and after the show. Expert trade-show trainer Robyn Davis will highlight the wide range of attendees you’re likely to meet (in a variety of categories) and help you plan out your communications to build momentum toward your event-specific goals, turning every interaction into a win-win-win situation.
